Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 all-beef hot dogs
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce Feel free to experiment with different BBQ sauces.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon hot sauce (optional) Add for extra heat.
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon BBQ dry rub of your choice Customize for different flavor profiles.

Instructions

Air Fry the Hot Dogs

  • Place the hot dogs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring air space between them. Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook for 7-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are nicely browned.
  • You can skip this step if you're using leftover hot dogs—just jump ahead!

Prepare the Hot Dogs

  • Remove the hot dogs from the air fryer and cut them into approximately 1-inch chunks.

Mix the Sauce

  • In a large bowl, toss the hot dog pieces with barbecue sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, hot sauce (if using), apple cider vinegar, and your BBQ dry rub until everything is evenly coated.

Air Fry Again

  • Return the coated hot dog pieces to the air fryer in a single layer. Cook at 400°F for another 7-10 minutes, stirring halfway through until nice and caramelized.

Serve

  • Dish them up with toothpicks for an appetizer or pair with your favorite sides for a full meal. A little extra BBQ sauce on top can take these burnt ends to the next level!

Notes

Store leftover burnt ends in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the air fryer or microwave until heated through. Ensure reheated dishes reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
