Ingredients

For the Patties

  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 each Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 each Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper

For the Gravy

  • 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour (For thickening gravy)
  • 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 each Onion (Sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  • Shape the mixture into 6–8 oval patties. Let them rest while you prepare the gravy base.

Cooking

  • In an oven-safe skillet, brown the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until translucent.
  • Stir in flour and let it cook for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream to create a smooth gravy.
  • Nestle the browned patties into the gravy, cover tightly, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with fluffy mashed potatoes or creamy buttered noodles to soak up the rich gravy. For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
