  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 2 cups cooked white rice Day-old rice is ideal as it holds texture.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Unsalted butter preferred.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic recommended.
  • 1 cup beef broth Low-sodium broth for better control over saltiness.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half or whole milk.
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese Alternatively, use Monterey Jack for a spicier kick.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Recommended for a gooey texture.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish For serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 6–8 minutes until no pink remains. Drain excess fat.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add cooked rice, beef broth, and heavy cream to the saucepan. Stir to combine and let simmer for 3–4 minutes until creamy. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.

Assembly

  • Spread the creamy garlic rice evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  • Layer the cooked beef over the rice.
  • Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the beef, then top with mozzarella.

Baking

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 2–3 minutes for a browned top, watching closely.
  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be reheated in the microwave or oven. Add pickled jalapeños for extra flavor.
