Preparation

  • In a large pot, place your bratwurst and cover them generously with beer.
  • Add the sliced onions to the pot.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.

Grilling

  • Once they’re cooked, remove the sausages from the beer.
  • Heat a grill and cook the brats until they’re nicely browned and crispy.
  • Serve the grilled sausages in buns topped with mustard and sautéed onions.

Notes

For creative toppings, consider sauerkraut, pickles, or jalapeños. Pair with sides like potato salad or fries.
