Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Bratwurst sausages Choose your preferred type.
  • 1 can Beer (lager or ale) Select a flavorful beer for best results.
  • 2 pieces Onions, sliced Cook until golden brown.
  • 4 pieces Buns for serving You can use any type of bun.
  • to taste Mustard Any preferred type.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.

Preparation

  • Slice your onions and cook them in a large skillet over medium heat until they turn golden brown.
  • Add the bratwursts to the skillet and pour enough beer in to cover the sausages completely.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.

Grilling

  • While the sausages are simmering, preheat your grill.
  • Once simmered, transfer the brats to the grill and cook until they have a nice char and are fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve the brats in your favorite buns topped with the sautéed onions and a generous dollop of mustard.

Notes

Beer brats are best served hot off the grill, topped with sweet, caramelized onions and your favorite mustard. Pair them with crispy fries or coleslaw for a complete meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or freeze for future meals.
