Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar Can substitute with light brown sugar.
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 12 oz. Chocolate Chips Mix of semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips recommended.
  • Saltine Crackers Can substitute with Ritz or graham crackers.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Line a 9x13 inch pan with foil, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.
  • Lay a single layer of Saltine crackers across the bottom of the pan in an even pattern.

Making the Toffee

  • In a saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, stirring constantly for about three minutes.
  • Pour the bubbling mixture over the crackers in the pan, ensuring they're evenly coated.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 7 minutes.

Finishing Touches

  • Take the pan out of the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee.
  • Once the chocolate begins to melt, spread it out like icing for a smooth finish.
  • Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens fully, then break into pieces for serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, refrigerate or freeze for later. Layer parchment paper between pieces if stacking.
