  • 4 pieces large potatoes Peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions Optional for garnish
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Optional for topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
  • In a large bowl, mix the sour cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Layering

  • Layer half of the potato slices in a greased casserole dish.
  • Spread half of the sour cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  • Repeat the layering with the remaining potato slices, sour cream mixture, and cheese.
  • If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for that extra crunch.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Feel free to swap sour cream for Greek yogurt for a healthier alternative. You can also add cooked veggies or different cheeses to mix it up.
