Brownie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Can use margarine as a substitute.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar Brown sugar can be used for a richer flavor.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Use quality cocoa for richest flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Homemade caramel can enhance flavor.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional for extra chocolate flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave, and then mix it with the sugar until fully combined.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold this into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter and swirl it with a knife for a marbled effect.
  • Pour the remaining brownie batter into the pan, then drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce and swirl again.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips on top for an extra dose of deliciousness.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

For extra indulgence, serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
