Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For the Glaze

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease a loaf pan lightly.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined—overmixing can lead to a dense loaf.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet or press it into a loaf pan.

Glazing and Baking

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the glaze. Spread half of this mixture over the top of the formed loaf.
  • Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven, brush with the remaining glaze, and return it to the oven for another 15 to 20 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

Serving

  • Allow the meatloaf to rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

Experiment with leaner cuts of beef or use ground turkey for a lighter version. Allow the meatloaf to rest to retain its juices.
