Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 4-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy and pale.
  • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, until the batter is smooth.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely on a rack before frosting.

Frosting

  • Beat butter until light, add powdered sugar gradually, then mix in vanilla and milk until smooth and fluffy.

Assembling

  • Slice the cake into two layers, spreading frosting between and around the layers for a clean, smooth finish.

Decorating

  • Add fresh roses on top, secure fondant hearts and message labels around the cake, sprinkle gold pearls, and finish with a cake topper if desired.

Notes

Store the cake in a cool place or refrigerate for up to 3 days. Remove roses before chilling. Bake the cake layers a day before and frost just before serving for the freshest taste.
