Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast Always use fresh yeast; check the expiration date.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Melted.
  • 1 large Egg Yolk
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano Can substitute with fresh herbs.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt

Cheese and Sauce

  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese Shredded.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Shredded.
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce For serving.

Preparation

  • Activate the yeast by mixing warm water with granulated sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic salt, oregano, and kosher salt.
  • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yeast mixture, egg yolk, and melted butter. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick and cut it into sticks.
  • Place the sticks on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese generously over them.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving with warm marinara sauce.

Notes

Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping. For a fun twist, pair with other finger foods or garnish with fresh herbs. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
