Ingredients

For the Fries:

  • 1 pound of frozen or fresh fries – Choose your favorite kind whether it's crinkle-cut, shoestring, or classic steak fries. The thicker fries hold up better to the toppings, but any variety works perfectly!
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil – This helps achieve that crispy texture when baking or frying the fries.

For the Toppings:

  • 3 tablespoons of Sriracha sauce – Adjust to your spice tolerance! Sriracha adds the perfect amount of heat and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese – Melted cheese adds a creamy savory contrast to the spiciness.
  • 1/4 cup of sour cream or Greek yogurt optional – This will help cool down the heat from the Sriracha and add a rich creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro – Adds a fresh zesty note that brightens up the dish.
  • 1/4 cup of chopped green onions – These give a mild oniony crunch that pairs well with the fries.
  • 1/4 cup of sliced jalapeños optional – For an extra kick of heat if you’re a fan of spice.

For Seasoning:

  • Salt and pepper – To taste for seasoning the fries before baking or frying.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder – For an extra savory touch that enhances the overall flavor profile of the fries.

Instructions

1: Prepare the Fries

  • Bake or Fry the Fries: Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C) if you're baking, or heat oil in a deep fryer if you're going the fry route.
  • For baked fries: Toss your fries in olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, making sure they’re evenly coated. Spread them out on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they're crispy and golden.
  • For fried fries: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Fry the fries in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.

2: Add the Toppings

  • Drizzle with Sriracha: Once your fries are cooked to crispy perfection, drizzle them generously with the Sriracha sauce. If you like your fries extra spicy, feel free to add more!
  • Melt the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the hot fries. The heat will melt the cheese, making it gooey and delicious. If you're feeling indulgent, pop the fries under the broiler for 1-2 minutes for extra melty goodness.
  • Top it Off: Add your sour cream or Greek yogurt for that creamy, cool contrast. Then sprinkle the chopped cilantro, green onions, and jalapeños on top. These fresh toppings will balance out the heat and add a burst of color to your dish.

3: Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve Immediately: These fries are best enjoyed while hot and crispy! Grab some dipping sauces like ranch or extra Sriracha if you like, and dig in with friends, family, or just for yourself.
