Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti (any shape will do)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (extra virgin for best flavor)
  • 3 cups water or broth (vegetable or chicken)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (for that authentic taste)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust according to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp pepper (freshly ground if possible)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (plus more for topping)
  • to taste Parmesan cheese for serving (optional, but recommended for extra flavor)

Instructions

Cooking

  • In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the spaghetti, water or broth, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and cook for about 10-12 minutes. Stir occasionally until the pasta is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese until everything is well combined.
  • Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and cover until it melts.
  • Serve hot, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

This dish is perfect on its own but can be served with a fresh green salad or garlic bread. Consider adding crushed red pepper flakes or fresh basil for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
