Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.

Notes

Store leftovers tightly wrapped or in an airtight container. Can be refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for future enjoyment. Thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
