  • 1 cup Sugar Granulated sugar.
  • 3 large Eggs Room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder Ensure it's fresh for best results.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract Can substitute with almond extract for a twist.
  • 1 cup Milk Whole milk recommended for richness.
  • 1/2 cup Butter Must be at room temperature.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking pan by greasing it.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until everything is well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For serving, dust with powdered sugar, add whipped cream with fresh berries, or serve with ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze wrapped slices for later enjoyment.
