For the cider

  • 4 oz apple cider
  • 3 oz fresh blackberry puree (or muddled blackberries)
  • 2 oz bourbon or dark rum Optional
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz maple syrup or simple syrup
  • 1 stick cinnamon stick Plus more for garnish
  • Ice cubes
  • Blackberries (for garnish)
  • Optional: black sugar (for rimming)

Instructions

Preparation

  • If desired, rub a lemon wedge around each glass and dip into black sugar for a 'poisoned' sparkle.
  • In your shaker, muddle a few blackberries with maple syrup until juicy and fragrant.
  • Add apple cider, bourbon, lemon juice, and ice. Drop in a cinnamon stick for spice.
  • Shake well for 20 seconds until chilled and richly colored.
  • Strain into the prepared glasses filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with whole blackberries and a cinnamon stick.
  • Serve immediately and sip carefully — it’s dangerously good!

Notes

Mocktail Version: Skip the bourbon and add a splash of ginger beer for a non-alcoholic, spicy fizz. Add Depth: Stir in a drop of vanilla extract or a dash of clove for extra warmth. Batch It: Multiply the recipe and mix in a pitcher for easy party serving. Presentation Tip: Serve in dark glasses or with a smoky dry ice effect for Halloween drama.
