  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth Homemade broth can enhance flavor.
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated Adds warmth and depth.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Brings out flavor.
  • 2 cups fresh spinach or bok choy Greens can be substituted with any preferred variety.
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Adjust for dietary preference.
  • 1 tsp sesame oil Drizzle just before serving.
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped Used as a garnish.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to keep the cooking process smooth.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle boil.
  • Add the dumplings to the broth and cook until tender.
  • Stir in the fresh spinach or bok choy along with soy sauce, cooking until the greens have wilted, roughly 2-3 minutes.
  • Just before serving, drizzle the sesame oil into the soup for extra flavor.
  • Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

Pairs well with steamed rice or crispy egg rolls. Serve in deep bowls with chopsticks for an impressive presentation. Leftover soup can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days or frozen.
