  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is at room temperature.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar For a sweeter flavor and texture.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Adds flavor to the cookie dough.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances the flavors.
  • 1/4 cup fruit preserves For filling; can swap for different flavors.
  • optional sprinkles For decoration.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour until just combined.
  • Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Use your thumb to make an indentation in the center of each ball.
  • Fill each indentation with a small amount of fruit preserves.
  • Optionally, add sprinkles on top of the cookies.
  • Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. They can be frozen for up to three months; thaw at room temperature.
