For the Filling

  • 2 pints Fresh Strawberries, hulled and sliced Choose ripe strawberries for optimal flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Strawberry Simple Syrup Made from sugar, water, and pureed strawberries.

For the Whipped Cream

  • 2 cups Heavy Cream Essential for making luscious whipped cream.
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (optional) Enhances the flavor profile.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Bake the sponge cake according to your chosen recipe or boxed mix and allow it to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, carefully slice the cake horizontally into two or three even layers.
  • Generously apply the strawberry simple syrup to each layer.
  • Evenly distribute fresh sliced strawberries atop the syrupy layers.
  • Add a layer of lightly sweetened whipped cream over the strawberries.
  • Finish with a layer of whipped cream on top and garnish with more fresh strawberries.

Chill

  • Let the cake chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap for up to a week. For freezing, slice and wrap individual pieces tightly for best results.
