Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk (warm)
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs

For the Cinnamon Butter

  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit until frothy (about 5-10 minutes).
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  • Pour the yeast mixture into the flour along with the melted butter and eggs. Mix until a cohesive dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (approximately one hour).
  • Punch down the dough, divide it into small balls, and place them in a greased baking dish.
  • Allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
  • While the rolls are baking, prepare the cinnamon butter by beating together the softened butter, powdered sugar, and cinnamon until creamy.
  • Serve the warm rolls topped with the delightful cinnamon butter.

Notes

These rolls shine best when enjoyed warm, right out of the oven. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
